The announcement, which came in a televised address to the nation yesterday, marks a critical turning point in the campaign and underscores the government’s determination to root out the extremist group and restore peace and stability to the region.   By: Jama In the early hours of the day today, the Islamic State in Somalia (IS-Somalia aka ISIS) launched a massive attack on two bases of the Puntland Defense Forces (PDF), employing an unprecedented number of suicide bombers and fighters in an attempt to inflict maximum damage and terror. The attack, which took place in the early hours of the morning, involved 20 suicide bombers using 2 SVBIEDs (Suicide Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices) and 7 motorbike bombs, along with around 200 fighters armed with assault rifles and other weapons. The PDF personnel at the two bases, located in strategic positions in the Togga Jecel area of the Bari region of Puntland, found themselves under intense fire and facing a determined enemy that seemed to have little regard for their own lives.
